Nine important advices to plan your career

  1. Never Stop Learning! Lifetime learning is the key to success in your career. The world is constantly changing and everybody is looking for new ways to do business. If you think that your current skills are good enough, you have also decided that the work you have currently is good enough. But if you want a career in the future, you should add and improve your skills and knowledge constantly.
  2. Ask, Listen and Learn! A good listener can learn a lot. Listen to your boss and your associates. You can learn a lot from their experience. Ask about issues that are of your interest and hear what they say. Let them tell how things get done and how could you might have done better.
  3. Realize your current work excellently! Your current work can be the best place to start your career. Sometimes a thing that separates people form their success is a little one. But nothing comes without effort. If you do your job well and you fulfil your responsibilities as best as you can, this is the best way to start a career. Talk to your supervisor about things you can do as well as look for suggestions for further improvement. Ask for help to build a successful career. Sometimes it is more likely within the organization where you belong, especially if you prove you're a valued employee.
  4. Create your network of contacts. The next step to build a career is through the contacts you have. Did you know that more than 50% of jobs are obtained from network of contacts? If you have a good network of contacts, it is always a good opportunity to discover your career and explore new opportunities. Spend some time creating contacts and do not forget to keep those what you have.
  5. Define your current job. Your current job should be identified and not assumed. Be sure not to spend time while performing tasks you assume are important. This is a waste of time and talent. When starting a new job, talk to your supervisor about your priorities. If you're not sure what is more important, then ask the supervisor. Often you will be surprised about the differences between those that you assume were important and those that are really most important.
  6. Define your next job. A job of your dream must be clearly defined. Prior to plan a career, make sure you have identified the job of your dream. In the job of your dream, you always do what you like best and nothing that you do not like. What is that job? You like or dislike having responsibility for other employees? Do you like to work with technology or with people? Do you like having your own business? Do you like being a singer or an engineer? Or a manager? Before you build your career, you should clearly define your goal!
  7. Be prepared! A job that you always dreamt of may show up tomorrow. You should therefore always be prepared! Do not wait a second. Review your CV now and constantly add experience or qualifications. Tomorrow, a work that you have always wanted may show up, so it is important to be ready to describe yourself as more appropriate for the job position.
  8. Select the proper tools! Select the tools that you can afford. You can build a career using various tools. You can make short-term professional courses or do a master. Remember: your current work is a very good tool to develop new skills.
  9. Realize your dream! It's time to make your dreams a reality! Do not let that such an overloaded work destroy your dreams. If you have higher goals, begin to act. If you plan to be more educated, to have a better job, to start your own business, do not let your current work take all energies from you. In addition, use these energies to make your dream come true!
