Job Summary
As an experienced Machine Operator in our steel fabrication facility, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a range of machinery used in the production of steel products. Your primary focus will be on ensuring efficient and accurate operation of equipment, while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards. You will work closely with a team of fabricators and supervisors to meet production targets and deliver products of the highest quality to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor a variety of machines such as shears, punches, saws, drills, press brakes, plasma cutters, and other equipment used in steel fabrication.
- Set up machines and adjust parameters to achieve precise specifications and ensure product quality.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished products onto and from machines.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and minor repairs.
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, making necessary adjustments as required.
- Follow safety guidelines and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures at all times.
- Collaborate with fabricators, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate workflow and meet production targets.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, machine maintenance, and inventory levels.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency enhancement, and cost reduction.
Job requirements
- Mechanical Engineer diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience as a Machine Operator in a steel fabrication or metalworking environment min. 2 years.
- In-depth knowledge of various steel fabrication machinery, including shears, punches, saws, press brakes, and plasma cutters.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Ability to set up, calibrate, and operate machinery to achieve precise specifications.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, as required.
