INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

POSITION TITLE: Gender & Youth Support Intern
WORKSITE LOCATION: Prishtina, Kosovo
INTENDED INTERNSHIP PERIOD: November 2023 – January 2024
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 3 months, with possibility of extension up to 6 months
INTERN’S SUPERVISOR: Gender & Youth Manager

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The USAID Kosovo Compete Activity is a five-year project implemented by DT Global that aims to promote resilient, self-sustaining market systems, and facilitate the private sector’s improved competitiveness in local, regional, and global markets. The USAID Kosovo Compete Activity works to empower firms, organizations, and institutions to improve market systems in three key export-oriented sectors (Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), Wood processing, and Food processing) and sustainably increase their competitiveness. By working to address constraints across the system, USAID Compete will enable scalable and systemic change to occur, stimulating job creation and the private sector’s increased ability to engage in local, regional, and international markets. The expected results of the Activity across all three sectors are 1) market systems are strengthened to increase sector competitiveness and 2) market actors within those market systems are more productive and competitive.

The selected Intern will provide daily assistance and support on tasks related to the needs of USAID Compete Gener & Youth Manager and functional experts (diversified finance, skills development, enabling business environment, and business sophistication), mainly assisting on topics and interventions listed under the deliverables section, but also other tasks as needed.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Learn and acquire professional experience towards desired career path.
  2. Advance skills on data collection and analysis.
  3. Advance teamworking and communication skills with USAID Compete and sector associations.
  4. Learn to work responsibly and independently in a dynamic work environment.
  5. Learn to work in a team setting towards common project goals.
  6. Obtain knowledge and skills relevant for potentially working in a donor-funded (USAID) project.

TASKS:

  1. Assist Women & Youth Manager in implementing the annual workplan activities to ensure timely achievement of project goals, objectives, targets, and indicators.
  2. Support functional experts in compiling contact lists and help coordinating logistics for events.
  3. Assist in creating marketing ad educational content aimed at a youth audience.
  4. Perform additional duties as needed beyond the scope of the job description.
  5. Take notes during interviews with stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries.
  6. Provide research assistance on topics related to the success and impact of mentorship and B2B activities involving women and youth.
  7. Provide assistance in maintaining the database of project activities.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recently completed or in the final year of completion of a university degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, and/or social sciences. Another relevant field of study that fits with tasks required may be considered.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in data analysis is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Albanian.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Committed, hard-working, and willing to learn.
  • Competency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be flexible and adaptable.
