Shield Recruitment & HR is seeking a Pastry Chef for its client, one of the most established companies in the country in the field of Hospitality industry, based in Prishtina.

Job title: Pastry Chef

Report:

Pastry Chef reports to Executive Chef, Food and Beverage Manager and directly to General Manager.

Job summary:

The pastry chef is the person responsible for the preparation and production of all hot and cold cakes, ice cream, wedding cakes, biscuits, fruit, etc.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Responsible for organizing the work process and the production of all sweets in the pastry.
  • Advises, trains and assists confectioners, assistant, practitioners and other employees in the preparation and production of sweets,
  • In cooperation with the food and beverage manager, the executive chef and the head of the purchasing department, assigns the purchase of the products necessary for the preparation and production of the highest quality cakes.
  • In collaboration with the food and beverage manager and the executive chef determines the types of daily dessert preparations and their inclusion in the menu.
  • Takes care that the storage of confectionery products at adequate temperatures and their control in terms of terms of use as well as in cases of spoilage of sweets / expiration of the term, ensures that it is discarded as soon as possible and not used.
  • Takes care in preparing all special orders on the occasion of the organization of weddings, banquets, conferences, events and family events.
  • Takes care of the storage and storage of products reserves for the preparation of sweets and presents in time the requirements for the purchase of necessary products.
  • Ensures that the process of preparation and production of sweets is as economical and profitable as possible, reasonably using products and energy.
  • Advises, trains and assists interns in the preparation and production of sweets;
  • Takes care of the transfer of knowledge and craftsmanship of confectionery preparation to confectionery, confectionery assistants and practitioners.
  • Controls the quantity and quality of products purchased for the preparation of sweets.
  • Personally responsible for the goods / products received by the supply department.
  • Supervises and controls the operation of all electrical appliances used in confectioneries and in case of failure / breakdown, informs the maintenance department, for repair as soon as possible.
  • Ensures that the confectionery and all confectionery equipment, during the preparation and service of sweets are in functional condition and ready and suitable for use.
  • In order to avoid accidents at work, you should use the equipment with extra care.
  • Takes care of excellent and representative presentation, by keeping the uniform clean, the name displayed on the uniform and meeting the standards of personal hygiene.
  • Takes care of the regular, adequate and good use of the hotel's inventory and equipment in general.
  • Takes care of maintaining international sanitary and occupational health standards, in particular hygienic control of work, and control of the use of apparatus and work tools.
  • Takes care of the implementation of measures for protection at work, fire protection and the use of personal protective equipment at work.
  • Responsible for the protection of the "principle of personal data processing", which means the responsibility that no personal data of employees or clients can be published without his / her written consent. (Law on Personal Data Protection L-06/082).
  • Responsibility as manager to oversee the implementation of measures for protection at work, fire protection and use of personal protective devices at work.
  • Responses materially to work and all actions taken during the performance of his / her duties, for which it is responsible.
  • Responsible for the work done and all the results and possible labor problems develop weekly and monthly reports and informs the senior management with any information regarding the progress;
  • Performs other professional work, according to the request and instructions of the General Manager, which work is within his / her respective activity.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or certification in Culinary Arts / Pastry & Baking
  • Completion of a professional culinary school or specialized training in pastry
  • Additional certifications in food hygiene (HACCP certification is considered an advantage)
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in pastry, preferably within a hotel or high-end restaurant environment
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role (e.g., Senior Pastry Chef or Chef de Partie)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and provide training to staff
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Proficiency in the English language
