INTERNSHIP TITLE: Communications & Social Media Intern
INTERN WORKSITE LOCATION: Prishtina, Kosovo
DATES OF INTERNSHIP: June 2024 – August 2024
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 3 months, with possibility of extension up to 6 months
WORKING HOURS: 4 hours a day, 20 hours per week, flexible as coordinated with the supervisor

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The USAID Kosovo Compete Activity is a five-year project implemented by DT Global that aims to promote resilient, self-sustaining market systems, and facilitate the private sector’s improved competitiveness in local, regional, and global markets. The USAID Kosovo Compete Activity works to empower firms, organizations, and institutions to improve market systems in three key export-oriented sectors (ICT, Wood processing, and Food processing) and sustainably increase their competitiveness. By working to address constraints across the system, USAID Compete will enable scalable and systemic change to occur, stimulating job creation and the private sector’s increased ability to engage in local, regional, and international markets. The expected results of the Activity across all three sectors are 1) market systems are strengthened to increase sector competitiveness and 2) market actors within those market systems are more productive and competitive.
The Communications & Social Media Intern will provide daily assistance on communications deliverables such as drafting stories, videos, posters, and social media postings, taking photos, conducting research, and preparing reports and other materials.

- Advance skills in writing and communications;
- Advance social media and photography skills;
- Learn to work responsibly and independently in a dynamic work environment;
- Learn to work in a team setting towards common project goals;
- Obtain knowledge and skills to work on a USAID project.
DELIVERABLES:
- Conduct research for success stories, reports, and other project materials as required;
- Work with the team to create and execute monthly social media plans;
- Take photos and record videos for use in various communication materials;
- Write texts for social media, reports, success stories, brochures, infographics, posters, etc.
- Draft content on a regular basis for use in social media and reports using graphic design tools such as Canva;
- Prepare posters and videos using graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe, etc.;
- Write communication materials for project events (Press releases, biographies, memos, etc.);
- Assist the communications team with events and other activities;
- Assist to ensure compliance with appropriate branding and marking of materials by following guidelines;
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
IDEAL CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Recently completed or in the final year of completion of a university degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism and/ or Business preferred.
- Interest and basic knowledge of public relations, marketing, and communications.
- Strong communication skills, and ability to work effectively with a team on projects and initiatives.
- Creative thinking: Ability to develop new and innovative ideas for social media content, campaigns, and promotions.
- Knowledge of graphic design tools such as like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or others, and experience in using them to create visually appealing social media content, is a plus.
- Knowledge of popular social media platforms, and experience in using them professionally.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Albanian.
- Strong computer literacy with internet and social media savvy.
- Excellent competency in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent photography skills.
- Committed, hard-working, and flexible.
