Program Officer:

Position Summary

The National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Kosovo is seeking to recruit a Program Officer to join the team. The candidate should possess strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, and administrative skills and an understanding of the political environment in Kosovo, political parties and National Assembly of Kosovo. As part of the team, the Program Officer will play a significant role in supporting our program on working with political parties, as well as national and local institutions, in advancing inclusion and gender equality.

Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive support to the NDI Team in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of programs aimed at promoting inclusive democratic processes.
  • Assist in the management of the overall implementation of NDI’s political parties and inclusion program in Kosovo.
  • Provide analysis of political context that would help team and program objectives, monitoring of local and global trends to gender and inclusive development.
  • Execute required components of established program plans, and perform programmatic assignments in accordance with established expectations and timelines.
  • Assist in research and analysis assignments and provide summarized findings in a clear, concise and understandable manner.
  • Support NDI’s partnerships with national and local institutions, political parties, civil society organizations and media.
  • Draft and/or edit agendas, terms of reference, briefing materials, and trainer reports for training and conferences.
  • Report on program activity and results, conduct performance evaluation and revise program design as needed.
  • Translation of materials and documents for program activities.
  • Provide support for training and conferences and other events.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor degree.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong research and analysis skills to allow for gathering, summarizing and presenting findings.
  • Interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as externally with NDI partners and other stakeholders.
  • Oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and through various communication media.
  • An attention-to-detail, with a propensity to complete work accurately and with a focus on quality.
  • Initiative and a high level of proficiency in the ability to multitask and prioritize; manage time, perform project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills; and flexibility to adapt and respond to shifting priorities.
  • Capacity to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite tools and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Fluency in English and Albanian. Serbian language would be an asset.
