About employer:

The farm is located in a picturesque setting within a short driving distance of two major towns and approximately 1.5 hours south of Dublin.

The farm covers approximately 150 hectares, mostly consisting of grassland, with some crops grown. We primarily focus on a beef fattening enterprise, maintaining around 300 animals on the farm at any given time. While we keep about 25 cows with their own calves, we do not have any dairy cows. The farm is well-equipped with machinery and specialized housing for cattle.

Job description:

We are seeking an experienced Farm Worker with a strong interest in farming and agriculture, who is open to advancing to independently manage the farm. We are looking for a progressive, forward-thinking individual and are prepared to offer a significant level of autonomy.

Location: Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland

Salary and Conditions: €34,000 per year

Also included:

  • Free accommodation on the farm (a very good quality house).
  • Free car – The candidate will cover their own fuel costs for private use.
  • Car insurance will be paid by the employer.


At certain times of the year, the workload will be considerably lighter, so the candidate should expect to work an average of 40 hours a week throughout the year. All public holidays (10 per year) and normal holidays (20 per year) will be paid. This farm management environment may have irregular hours at different times of the year. However, in addition to the benefits above, the employer will pay an annual bonus of approximately €4,000 euros, depending on the business's performance.

Duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate should have extensive farm experience. While the employer is willing to allow some time for learning specific tasks, the candidate must already demonstrate excellent farm skills in the following areas:

  • Tractor driving (Modern John Deere Tractor on the Farm)
  • Farm Loader Driving (Manitou Farm Loader on the Farm)
  • Operating trailed and linkage implements for Tractor tasks, such as transporting cattle using a specialized trailer, spreading slurry using a specialized vacuum tanker (tandem axle with large capacity), spreading granular fertilizer using a linkage-hitched fertilizer spreader, and cutting grass in pastures using a linkage-hitched machine.

In addition to these tasks, the candidate will be required to handle farm fence maintenance and minor general maintenance duties.

Cattle management:

The candidate needs to have excellent cattle handling experience, including feeding and knowledge of animal health and welfare.

English language requirement:

The candidate should have a B1 English level. A candidate with an A2 English level will be considered if they can demonstrate exceptional natural communication skills and the correct level of farm experience.
