Coordinator for the Kosovo Sustainable Development Week (KSDW)
The overall purpose of the post
The Coordinator will be mainly responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of Kosovo Sustainable Development Week (KSDW). This includes aligning activities with key sustainable development themes, coordinating with project managers and advisors within GIZ for content-related inputs, and facilitating stakeholder engagement at the national, and local levels. He/she ensures effective communication and information flow within GIZ-implemented projects while assisting project managers in expanding stakeholder involvement. Additionally, he/she will serve as an advisor for environmental policy and resources efficiency.
Main tasks and responsibilities
The position holder performs the following:
- Supports the relevant project managers to align activities within sustainable development day/week themes
- Coordinates with advisors from relevant project within GIZ, for content related inputs
- Prepares the plan and sets the agenda for KSDW 2025
- Assists Project Managers and advisors on efforts to engage more stakeholders
- Ensures effective communication and flow of information within the GIZ-implemented projects
- Stakeholder coordination on national and local level, international communities and academia
- Performs other duties and tasks at the request of the supervisor.
Project coordination and management:
- Leads the planning and implementation of KSDW 2025 events under a decentralized organizational framework
- Ensures alignment with the overall concept and brand guidelines of KSDW
- Coordinates with the contracted PR and communication agency to deliver branding, outreach, and promotional materials for all events
- Maintains oversight of the event calendar, ensuring timely execution of activities and high visibility of events.
Stakeholder engagement and community management:
- Cultivates and manages relationships with key stakeholders across sectors (civil society, businesses, media, government, and international organizations)
- Expands the KSDW partner network by onboarding new actors, such as representatives from agrotourism, PV installation companies, environmental grassroots organizations, and marginalized groups
- Facilitates collaboration between event organizers, ensuring that each event contributes to the overarching theme of achieving a societal shift towards sustainability in Kosovo
- Coordinates and update internally within GIZ on stakeholder engagement and activities alignment.
Communication and event coordination
- Enhances the branding of KSDW
- Steers and supervises the activities of the PR and communication agency
- Coordinates the communication strategy and manages the dissemination of information across various platforms
- Collaborates with GIZ advisors and other partners to curate content that addresses sustainability challenges and opportunities in Kosovo
- Identifies and invites role models and experts from within Kosovo and internationally to share success stories and inspire stakeholders
- Ensures consistent use of the KSDW brand across all events and activities, enhancing visibility and credibility
- Oversees the active online presence of the KSDW platforms, website and social media.
Reporting and strategic development:
- Oversees the development of the 2025 KSDW report, including a detailed map of actors in the sustainable development space
- Analyzes feedback and outcomes from the 2025 events to inform planning for the 2026 KSDW.
- Supports efforts to secure multilateral funding for the expanded 2026 edition.
Required qualifications, competencies, and experience
Qualification
- University degree in Business Management, Mass Communication, Public Administration, International Development, Environmental Studies, Sustainability Studies or a related field; Master’s degree is an added value.
Professional experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement and event management
- Demonstrated experience working on sustainable development in Kosovo and with actors engaging in sustainable practices as well as a good knowledge of the stakeholder landscape or development projects
- Demonstrated experience in project management areas, conference organization and event management.
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Very good knowledge of English; knowledge of German is an added value
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as programs for graphic design
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Pro-active attitude towards work and strong motivation to take on new challenges.
