INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

POSITION TITLE: MEL – Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Intern

WORKSITE LOCATION: Prishtina, Kosovo

INTENDED INTERNSHIP PERIOD: May 2024 – August 2024

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 3 months, with the possibility of an extension of up to 6 months

WORKING HOURS: 4 hours a day, 20 hours per week, flexible as coordinated with the supervisor.

INTERN’S SUPERVISOR: MEL Manager

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

USAID Compete Activity (“USAID Compete”) is a five-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development. It is implemented by DT Global in consortia with Kosovo-based Recura Financials and US-based Canopy Lab. USAID Compete seeks to sustainably improve competitiveness in three key export-oriented sectors of wood processing (including the prefabricated buildings subsector) food processing and ICT. USAID Compete works to empower firms, organizations, and institutions to improve market systems. By working to address constraints across the system, USAID Compete seeks to enable scalable and systemic change to occur, stimulating job creation and the private sector increased ability to engage in local, regional, and international markets. The expected results of USAID Compete across all three sectors are: 1) market systems are strengthened to increase sector competitiveness, and 2) market actors within those market systems are more productive and competitive.

The selected Intern will provide daily assistance and support on tasks related to the needs of the USAID Compete Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Manager, mainly assisting on topics and interventions listed under the deliverables section, but also other tasks as needed.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Learn and acquire professional experience toward a desired career path.
  2. Advanced skills in data collection and analysis.
  3. Advance teamwork and communication skills with USAID Compete and project beneficiary enterprises.
  4. Learn to work responsibly and independently in a dynamic work environment.
  5. Learn to work in a team setting towards common project goals.
  6. Obtain knowledge and skills relevant to potentially working in a donor-funded (USAID) project.

TASKS:

  1. Assist MEL Manager in implementing the related MEL Plan activities, ensuring that project goals, objectives, targets, and indicators are attained on time.
  2. Provide support in compiling a list of contacts and help with logistics in organizing meetings/interviews.
  3. Support MEL Manager to conduct research, collect data, and analyze information acquired from stakeholders/partners/beneficiaries.
  4. Perform other duties as needed beyond the scope of the job description.
  5. Assist in keeping notes during interviews with stakeholders/partners/beneficiaries and provide support in transcribing.
  6. Provide research assistance on topics related to project sectors.
  7. Assist in maintaining the MEL database.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recently completed or in the final year of completion of a university degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, and/or social sciences. Another relevant field of study that fits with the tasks required may be considered.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in data analysis is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Albanian.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Committed, hard-working, and willing to learn.
  • Competency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Open to traveling for field-related tasks.
  • Be flexible and adaptable.
