INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

INTERNSHIP TITLE: Food Processing Sector Intern

WORKSITE LOCATION: Prishtina, Kosovo

INTENDED INTERNSHIP PERIOD: May 2024 – August 2024

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 3 months, with the possibility of an extension of up to 6 months

WORKING HOURS: 4 hours a day, 20 hours per week, flexible as coordinated with the supervisor.

INTERN’S SUPERVISOR: Food Processing Sector Lead

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The USAID Kosovo Compete Activity is a five-year project implemented by DT Global that aims to promote resilient, self-sustaining market systems, and facilitate the private sector’s improved competitiveness in local, regional, and global markets. The USAID Kosovo Compete Activity works to empower firms, organizations, and institutions to improve market systems in three key export-oriented sectors (Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), Wood processing, and Food processing) and sustainably increase their competitiveness. By working to address constraints across the system, USAID Compete will enable scalable and systemic change to occur, stimulating job creation and the private sector’s increased ability to engage in local, regional, and international markets. The expected results of the Activity across all three sectors are 1) market systems are strengthened to increase sector competitiveness and 2) market actors within those market systems are more productive and competitive.

The role of the Intern for the Food Processing Sector will provide daily assistance on FP Sector technical deliverables such as drafting ongoing activities through minutes of the meetings, preparing to-do lists and PowerPoint presentations of the ongoing and upcoming activities, conducting research, and preparing reports and other materials.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Learn and acquire professional experience toward desired career path,
  2. Advanced skills in Food Processing sector development,
  3. Learn to work responsibly and independently in a dynamic work environment,
  4. Learn to work in a team setting towards common project goals,
  5. Obtain knowledge and skills to work in a USAID project.

DELIVERABLES:

  1. Conduct research for success stories, reports, and other project materials as required.
  2. Assist in conducting interviews for success stories.
  3. Prepare relevant documents for facilitating the implementation of the activities.
  4. Assist in the preparation of project events.
  5. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recently completed or in the final year of completion of a university degree in any of the fields relevant to the food industry (such as Food Technology, Agriculture, Economics, Marketing, Finance, and/ or Business preferred).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Albanian.
  • Strong computer literacy with internet and social media savvy.
  • Interest and basic knowledge of digital marketing, and communications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Committed, hard-working, and willing to learn.
  • Excellent competency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be flexible.
