USAID Kosovo Compete Activity
Scope of Work
Project description
USAID Compete Activity (“USAID Compete”) is a five-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development. It is implemented by DT Global, in consortium with Kosovo-based Recura Financials and US-based Canopy Lab. USAID Compete seeks to sustainably improve competitiveness in three key export-oriented sectors of wood processing (including the prefabricated buildings subsector) food processing, and ICT. USAID Compete works to empower firms, organizations, and institutions to improve market systems. By working to address constraints across the system, USAID Compete seeks to enable scalable and systemic change to occur, stimulating job creation and private sector increased ability to engage in local, regional, and international markets. The expected results of USAID Compete across all three sectors are: 1) market systems are strengthened to increase sector competitiveness; and 2) market actors within those market systems are more productive and competitive.
Under the Food Processing Sector, USAID Compete is looking to improve and diversify sales channels for Kosovo food processing companies. Compete is partnering with a leading retail chain which is interested in establishing a line of private label (PL) products. This will increase sales opportunities for the retail chain and expand its supplier base and relationships among local producers. At the same time, it provides smaller food producers in Kosovo with the opportunity to integrate into higher quality value chains with linkages to export markets (given the retail chain’s regional presence). USAID Compete will support the retail chain with technical expertise to design and establish a sustainable model for its private label concept. The purpose of this document is to outline the key responsibilities and qualifications required for the Private Label Expert role.
