Background

The ASSOCIATION CONCORDIA Projekte Sociale is a non-governmental organization dedicated to helping children, young people, families as well as (socially and ethnically) marginalized groups in need, towards an independent and responsible life. CONCORDIA’s mission statement is to “go where the need is greatest…and where others don’t go”!

A psychologist is needed for the new community day centre in Gjakova.

Scope of the job

The psychologist at a community-based day centre is responsible for providing comprehensive psychological services to children attending the day centre, supporting their emotional, social, and cognitive development. Additionally, the psychologist will provide psychological counselling to young people and parents. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child psychology, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for working with children.

Main responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations of children.
  • Diagnose psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders, applying various tests.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Offer counseling to children facing various challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and developmental issues.
  • Provide support to families and caregivers, offering guidance on managing and understanding their child's psychological needs.
  • Facilitate workshops and support groups for young people and parents.
  • As member of a multidisciplinary team, collaborate with the social workers, teachers, nurse, to ensure comprehensive social and educational support to children, young people and their families.
  • Respond to psychological emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote mental health and emotional well-being.
  • Organize activities and workshops focused on social skills, self-esteem, and coping strategies.

The ideal candidate:

  • BA/Master in Psychology with a focus on child or developmental psychology.
  • Licensed as a psychologist with minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a clinical or educational setting.
  • Experience in conducting psychological assessments and providing therapy to children and adolescents.
  • Openness to work with people from disadvantaged backgrounds and ethnic minorities.
  • Ability to organize tasks efficiently, time and efficient management of resources.
  • Efficient communication.
  • Discretion and respect for the confidentiality of the information and data.
  • Has flexibility, enthusiasm and desire to assume responsibilities.
  • Fluent in English.
