Communications Specialist
The overall purpose of the post
The Communications Specialist will support the GIZ Office Kosovo, including its bilateral, regional and global projects, in their internal and external communication.
The Communications Specialist will lead communication efforts in the field of Good Governance. The position supports projects and country office by shaping and implementing strategic communication, showcasing projects impact, fostering stakeholder networks, and managing content for internal and external communication platforms.
Main tasks and responsibilities
The Communications Specialist performs the following:
- Responsible for Public Relations (PR) and communication in the field of Good Governance topic for GIZ-implemented projects in Kosovo.
- Supports several Project Managers and the Country Director with strategic direction of communication in the country, through presenting activities in good governance sector.
- Advises projects and colleagues on suitable formats for communicating impact of the projects
- Ensures effective communication and flow of information within the projects, GIZ office, Headquarters and with the different stakeholders.
- Develops activities for communication and PR (website, social media, and internal communication platforms) and contributes to the knowledge management of all projects that work on the topic.
- Establishes a network of key stakeholders in the sector and organizes community-building events to foster collaboration and engagement.
- Develops a communication plan with clear actions and expected impact for governance topics and other topics.
- Conceptualises and plans any sort of communication formats (i.e. videos, graphics, audios etc.) for the governance topic and impact of GIZ Kosovo.
- Supports the planning, delivery and post-processing of communication-related activities.
- Writes articles and any sort of written content for different formats on their own (e.g. publications, press conferences etc.) stemming from their deep understanding of the work of the projects and sector.
- Keeps themselves informed on the newest developments in good governance sector in the country, in the region and on EU-level.
- Coordinates cooperation with external communication service providers (e.g. appraisers, agencies, photographers, trainers, copywriters) and assures timely implementation of contracts
- Coordinates and implements communication work (including planning communication budget – quantity, formal and material quality, impact).
- Supports the Project Managers and the project teams in general project-related duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Communications.
Required qualifications, competencies, and experience Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or relevant fields; a Master’s degree is an asset.
Professional experience
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of communication (media and PR work, journalism, internal communication or lobbying or similar).
- A least 3 years of working in the field of governance and experience in working with public institutions.
- Experience in developing and implementing informative/awareness raising campaign.
- Experience in producing professional written content.
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German is an added value.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across sectors and stakeholder groups.
- Solid understanding of social media platforms and trends.
- Experience in project and/or event management.
- Pro-active attitude towards work and strong motivation to take on new challenges.
