USAID Kosovo Investment Promotion and Access to Finance Activity

Scope of Work

Activity background

DT Global is a fast-growing international development organization that focuses on improving the capability, capacity, and effectiveness of development programming in complex global environments. DT Global was recently awarded the 5-year USAID-funded Investment Promotion and Access to Finance Activity in Kosovo (hereinafter “Activity”). The Activity aims to strengthen the private sector’s capacity to deliver sustainable economic growth through two mutually re-enforcing objectives: 1) attracting and promoting investment; and 2) increasing access and utilization of diversified finance. By achieving these two objectives, the Activity will strengthen the resiliency of the private sector, create productive jobs, increase exports, and enable firms to adopt new technologies and business practices.

Assignment background

DT Global is seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Intern (hereinafter “MEL Intern”) to work directly with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Collaboration, Learning and Adapting (CLA) Director and Activity staff. The internship will offer an opportunity to students who are aspiring young professionals to develop and use analytical skills. The internship will also provide a number of professional development opportunities to the MEL Intern, particularly on matters related to project management and delivery. The internship will last three (3) months (with the possibility of renewal for an additional 3 months, subject to Activity needs), totaling 20 hours per week. The selected MEL Intern will be working in the Activity’s office in Prishtina. The MEL Intern is expected to participate perform the noted responsibilities and tasks elaborated below, with a stronger focus on data collection and data entry support.

General Responsibilities

The general responsibilities of the MEL Intern include:

  • Support MEL and CLA Director to maintain, monitor, and update the Activity’s Activity Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Plan (AMELP) and its key indicators.
  • Support MEL and CLA Director to perform performance indicator data collection, disaggregation, documentation, analysis, and reporting, according to the approved AMELP.
  • Support MEL and CLA Director to track, analyze and organize all CLA-related activities that will inform decisions to modify or expand activities.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

Specific tasks of the MEL Intern include:

  1. Collect needed qualitative and quantitative data using paper-based tools as well as relevant online platforms, as per the guidance of the MEL and CLA Director.
  2. Enter relevant MEL data on the Activity’s database.
  3. Assist MEL and CLA Director with data processing and analysis.
  4. Complete assigned administrative tasks, such as conducting secondary research and email correspondence with Activity partners and grantees.
  5. Assist in leveraging a mix of informational sources and research methods –Activity and other partner data, including observations from staff and partners.
  6. Assist in survey preparation, focus group discussions, data collection during events and secondary research.
  7. Perform other duties as needed beyond the scope of the job description.
Minimum Education Requirements
  • Currently studying in a relevant field in university, or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Desired Professional Skills
  • Prior knowledge of and experience in using statistical packages and data analysis is an advantage.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Attention to detail and an aptitude for problem solving.
  • Committed, hard-working, and willing to learn.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Albanian.

Expected Period of Performance

September 1, 2023 - December 1, 2023 (with the possibility of another 3 month extension)

Remuneration

The MEL Intern will receive a small stipend and a written recommendation of his/her contributions at the end of the internship program.
