Context
In Kosovo, mental health remains stigmatized and under-resourced. Services are primarily centralized and clinical, with limited access to ongoing psychosocial support—especially for marginalized groups and those in rural areas. Peer support groups can provide a vital alternative, but their development requires a clear understanding of community needs and preferences.Support Groups Kosova is a pioneering initiative that has been providing this service for several years, and now requires a data-driven report to expand its reach and maximize its impact where it is most needed
Objective
The consultant will carry out a participatory, data-driven assessment to identify:
- Priority themes and formats for support groups
- Key populations with the greatest need
- Barriers to participation
- Community preferences regarding structure, frequency, and delivery methods
- The assessment will produce actionable insights to guide SGK and its partners in developing tailored support models.
Key Responsibilities
- Review existing mental health and support group services in Kosovo
- Develop data collection tools (surveys, interviews, focus groups)
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data
- Identify gaps, preferences, and participation challenges
- Draft clear, context-specific recommendations
- Present findings to SGK and stakeholders
Deliverables
Inception Report: Methodology and data collection plan
Draft Report: Preliminary findings for review
Final Report: Including executive summary, analysis, and recommendations
Presentation: Summary of key insights (with slide deck)

Qualifications
Education & Skills
- Advanced degree in psychology, social work, mental health, or related field
- Strong command of English (written and spoken)
- Skilled in digital tools for data collection and analysis
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience post-degree
- At least 3 years in needs assessments or community-based research
- Experience with youth, LGBTQI+ individuals, or other marginalized groups
- Familiarity with Kosovo’s mental health context
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality analytical reports
- Prior work with NGOs, public institutions, or international partners is a plus
